Brahmcharini Navratra


2nd Navratra is for Brahmcharini on this day Brahmcharini Pooja is done. It is described in the mythology that one day Narada the Sage visited Himalaya and he prayed him to see the future of his daughter. When Parvati offered her palm to Narada to read then Narada saw the hands of Parvati he bowed on her feet. Himalaya and his wife were amazed to see this attitude of Narada. Then Narada told the whole story that before this birth she was daughter of Daksha and wife or lord Shiva and also predicted that in this birth also she will get Lord Shiva as her husband. From that day she started to worship Shiva and perfomed very strong penance then Lord Brahma appeared before her and blessed her that she will get Shiva as her husband. By seeing the devotion of Parvati she was also named as the Brahmcharini.


Method of Brahmcharini Pooja:


-First of all give bath to the idol with Curd, Melted butter, Milk and Honey.


-Them place the idol on Chowki and make offerings of Betel leaves, Betel nuts, fruits, Lotus flower, Vermillion, Kumkum and recite the given Mantra:


Ya Devi Sarvbhuteshu Maa Brahmcharini Rupen Sansthita,
Namastasya Namastasya Namastasya Namoh Namah,
Dhadhana Kar Padhayam Akshmala Kamandalu,
Devi Prasidatu Mai Brahmchariniyenutama.
